Booked a table for 8.30 - shown to table at 8.50 (due to walk-ins). Starter choice limited and having ordered Brie and Red Onion Tart I was presented with cold quiche. Waited a long time for all food, very expensive and far removed from fine dining. Wine list exceptionally over priced.

Went for lunchtime menu, Food far too fancy only "normal" thing on offer was ham, egg and chips, which I have to say was really lovely but £12.50 (All main courses were). Didn't get the free drink we were supposed to get with it either. Starters are £4.50, mains £12.50, desserts £3.95 (I think). Staff very friendly but walked in on crutches and waiter just stood there and watched me didn't hold the door or anything. Had chocolate and chilli torte with raspberry sorbet for dessert, loved the sorbet. House medium wine was lovely and way pub is done up is very nice.

Would only really go back for special occasions though, partly due to price, but more because at lunchtime would rather have burger or scampi or sea bass or something, not with risotto or linguine etc, just normal food - their chips are really the best I've probably ever had though, and if you like more fancy food instead of plain then you'll love it.

    Could this business improve anything?

Prices (at least at lunch) need to come down and need some more normal meals as not everyone like linguine or risotto - need a burger or scampi & chips or something. Sea bass and boiled potatoes in a tomato based sauce with green beans would be lovely.

I booked the Duke of York for Sat 30th 8pm, when I phoned I repeated twice my details to insure my booking was recorded, you can imagine my horror when I arrived at the Dukes Head to find my booking had not been recorded in there table register.
